Zack’s top priority is making sure that working and middle class families have a fair shot
Zack will continue to focus on:
- Making our neighborhoods safer and stronger
- Banned open drug use in our streets
- Invested in safe after-school activities for kids
- Secured funding for our Police Academy and behavioral health response teams within the police department
- Increased police officer funding by over 10% since being elected
- Passed our “Good Neighbor Agreement” to minimize homeless shelters’ impacts on our neighborhoods
- Working to make Spokane a more affordable place to live:
- Revised burdensome housing and parking regulations to allow development of all types of housing citywide
- Eliminated counterproductive parking requirements that blocked housing development that prevented building a variety of housing types across the city
- Passed our “Parking to People” law, which waves sales tax to build affordable housing in underutilized vacant lots
- Invested millions for affordable housing units, leading to a record number of housing units permitted in a year
- Championed reduced bus fare program
- Approved protections for renters and assistance for first time home buyers
- Making living and working in Spokane easier:
- Made streets more walkable and bikeable
- Defended traffic calming funds for neighborhood projects by maintaining traffic calming funding
- Invested in childcare facilities with evening hours& school-based healthcare clinics
- Allocated funding for apprenticeship/worker training programs
- Established three new school-based health clinics
Zack is running for re-election to keep fighting for Spokane’s working and middle class families by improving public safety, addressing affordability, and building 21st century infrastructure. While raising his family, Zack also teaches social studies part-time at his alma mater North Central High School.
